I love this blog. Weightless has so many good posts and In the Name of Better Health was a jewel.
The author listed many things we do to ourselves to lose weight. We think, “It’s for our health,” or, “It will make me do better so I can lose this weight.”
Some of the things from the blog…
We cut out gluten, dairy, and sugar in the name of better health.
We incorporate phrases such as “clean eating” and “cheat meal” into our lives in the name of better health.
We try cleanses and detoxes in the name of better health.
We control our portions and count calories in the name of better health.
We order salads and skip sweets at restaurants in the name of better health.
We keep food journals and watch what we eat like hawks in the name of better of health.
We berate ourselves, our lack of willpower, and our too-big bodies in the name of better health.
We buy scales and weigh ourselves weekly, at a minimum, in the name of better health.
We buy the latest exercise equipment and workout DVDs in the name of better health.
We stop eating at 7 p.m. in the name of better health.
We hold onto too-small clothes as motivation for losing weight in the name of better health.
We vow to lose 30 pounds—or more—in the name of better health.
You might be thinking, “Corinne, don’t you teach to do a lot of these things?”
I absolutely do…if you are ready.
Me and the author agree on something. Most of you are doing these things as LIE to yourself. You want to believe it for better health but often it’s because you are afraid.
You are afraid without these things you will overeat.
You are afraid without these things you will remain overweight.
When you ask yourself why am I doing these things be honest. If afraid, fear, scared, or other negative things are driving you then I promise it’s not sustainable. And it’s no F-ing way to live!
The worst thing you can do besides live in fear is to lie to yourself about why you are doing it.
I encourage you to try this…
Ask why am I losing weight and write for 10 minutes.
How much of it feels good and how much feels bad?
No diet works based in fear.
Decide you deserve more in life. Decide how to feel good about your choices and things will be much easier to change.
