Recipe

1 tsp of Cacoa Butter (my favorite brands are here)

1 tsp of MCT or Brain Octane (available here)

2 packets of Splenda (if you want a sweetener but it’s important it is zero sugar)

8-16 oz of coffee

Blend all in a blender. It will be frothy and delicious!

I drink three of these a day. One upon waking. One after morning workout. One late morning or early afternoon. I do not eat until 11am or later each day.

Notes!

You can substitute ghee, heavy whipping cream or canned coconut milk for cocoa butter. They flavor different.

Start with 1 tsp of the MCT oil! DO NOT start with 1 tbsp or you might have “disaster pants.”

Yes! MCT oil will help your bowels, joints, clarity and focus, skin, and fat loss.

The intent of the coffee is to extend a morning fast especially for people who don’t want to eat breakfast. ALSO, it’s a great way for women to get those good, fat burning fats in their system. Fat doesn’t make you fat.

Wow. I finally tried the Coffee this morning and it was amazing. I’m usually a black coffee person, but then I get hungry earlier. I’m enjoying starting today with this yummy goodness. Thank you for sharing this.

  • Emma says:

    HOT coffee, not got!

  • Emma says:

Have made this coffee in a cup but would love to try it blended better for the frothy, smoother aspect Corinne mentions. I looked to buy a nutribullet but they say not to use got liquids in it? I like my coffee hot so can anyone tell me if they successfully and safely use got coffee in their blender/ bullet?

  • Belinda says:

Is there anything to add to normal everyday coffee?

  • Shelly says:

Yeah BPC coffee! Love this, but have been shamed away from it 😞, not anymore! 🥳

  • Amber says:

How much fat should women aim for a day?

  • Samantha says:

For a non coffee drinker do you have a good drink to put the MTC oil in?

    • Susan says:

I can recommend cacao on its own, or matcha if you would like more caffeine. I sometime grind cacao nibs in my coffee grinder and then do a French Press with the product. Then you could proceed as above. 🙂

    • Barb says:

I switched from coffee to chicory. No caffeine and tastes delicious. I use vanilla nut and love it. Mix with one tbs pure unsalted butter, 2 tbs MCT oil, heavy whipping cream to taste, and 1/8 tsp of pink Himalayan salt.

  • DEBORAH LYNN COLE says:

I am not a coffee drinker . is there anything else instead if coffee?

  • Stacey says:

If anyone is like me and hates using a blender I started using a mini frother you can buy them on amazon .. I rinse it off it’s good !! https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07JQHTZKR/ref=sspa_mw_detail_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Just started listening to your podcasts and have been binging on them ! So happy I found a new way of doing this .. I felt a weight off my shoulders thinking about how I finally don’t have to feel bad about what I really like eating . I’m finally working on my brain not just my belly 🙂

  • Cynthia L Blum says:

Loving my bulletproof coffee in the AM but a little confused on which recipe to use. Your blog above says 1 teaspoon of Cacoa butter and 1 teaspoon of BO or MCT. However, the recipe on your Kit page says 1 tablespoon of each. Is that because you drink 2-3 of these coffees a day? (3 tsp. = 1 Tbsp.) Thank you!

  • Cindy says:

I am allergic to coconut, since the MCT oil is an extract from coconut oil do you think I would be able to use it? Or do you have a suggested substitute? Thank you!!

  • Lisa Dixon says:

I’m trying to listen to your podcasts. Do I need a special app?

  • Julie t #groupie says:

This!! I am so happy that you’re ok with bpc… that old diet info was messing with the brain. I am thankful you are so realistic! Every day I am stronger and stronger with your help!!

  • Beth Storrs says:

Can I use honey instead of Splenda? And is adding cinammon okay?

  • Kelly Nesson says:

how do I become a member of your group?

  • Jennifer says:

I like iced coffee 100% better than hot coffee. Is there any way to modify this recipe for that? I feel like the fats wouldn’t blend properly but maybe I’m wrong.

    • The fats will clog. So I think it won’t work as well but you can always try!

    • Lee Pierce says:

Hey Jennifer. I had the same thing. You can buy MCT oils that don’t solidify at cool temps, which will work. Also you can use heavy whipping cream instead of butter. Again you can’t use anything that’s solid at cooler temps (like coconut cream) or Corinne’s right it will clump. I also recommend you blend it with a magic bullet or just a regular blender because otherwise it separates but I feel that way about the hot coffee too. Good luck!

  • Kelly says:

I am not normally a coffee drinker and am sensitive to caffeine but I could use a little in the mornings so I’ve ordered myself a one cup brewer and Brain Octane. Is it imperative to have the caffeinated coffee or could I still get benefits from decaf?

    • Yes! Decaf works as well.

    • Lee Pierce says:

Hey Kelly, you can also buy “brewing cocoa” which is actual roasted cocoa beans that you make Just like hot coffee. It’s still got somebody caffeine but it’s much lower and it’s a nice cocoa taste but nothing like hot cocoa. I don’t love the taste of coffee so I like this butter. You can also buy this stuff called “coffee leaf tea” which are the leaves of coffee plants and they brew up like half coffee/half tea but without the caffeine content of coffee. It holds up to the cream and fat much better than regular tea which I think is too thin.

  • Barb Stork says:

    Hi Corrine,

I’m going to give your butter coffee a shot and I’m looking forward to the added health benefits of my morning coffee. Do you think the MCT would be good for a teenager who has a really hard time waking up for his morning classes? Can you recommend another way to prepare it; the boy doesn’t drink coffee. I was thinking maybe just mixing 1 tsp with butter for his toast, or tossing some in his scrambled eggs.

Thanks so much for all that you do! I just started following your podcasts about 3 weeks ago and I’m so happy with how I’m feeling emotionally and physically since I’ve started listening to my body and being accountable to myself!

    Barb

    • Lee Pierce says:

      Hey Barb,

I think the energy boost of this drink is minimal. It’s more about healthy fats and curbing hunger early morning. Yes healthy fats “boost your brain” but it’s not that energy jolt you get from caffeine.

As a person who struggles with getting up in the morning even with enough sleep…have since I was a kid..I have some hacks. Also you can see a specialist but I don’t believe meds are a good idea after taking several. Also caffeine in the morning doesn’t solve the issue of not getting up. It can help activate the brain earlier in the day but it causes dependency and it doesn’t actually get someone out of bed. Here’s what does

      1. Sleep cycles are real. Typically sleep cycles are about 90 minutes. You can use various app to track sleep cycles to see it works (but don’t look at the sleep scores they’re bogus). So your kid probably needs 9 hours most nights (NOT more), some nights at 7.5 hours. Rarely they can get away with 6. But whatever they do, if they notice they’re slightly away, even if it’s before the alarm, they HAVE to get up. Because if they go back to sleep and try to get up 45 minutes later they’re gonna be insanely groggy. I know it’s hard to get people to go to bed by 10 pm but that 10p-2a is crucial as are the 90 minute cycles

      2. Light. Bright insanely annoying light first thing in The morning. I use two Phillips bright light machines on either side of my bed and they are set to gradually brighten 30 minutes before my absolute last alarm and then I force myself to look st my phone first thing on the BRIGHTEST light possible. Nothing snaps somebody out of sleepy time like a lot of bright light

      3. Water. Your kid needs at least 64 ounces of water every day. Probably a little more down the road. During the day we can push through the exhausting effect and of dehydration because our body will make cortisol and adrenaline in response to perceived threats. It’s a horrible system but it’s how we are designed. But we dump all of that stuff while we sleep so when we wake up Theres nothing to get us pushed through hydration (unless you wake up in a panic in which case your body kicks into gear fast but that’s a horrible strategy). So if we wake up dehydrated it makes everything a hundred percent worse. So hydrate the DAY before. And yes drinking water first thing a.m. helps you wake up but that’s secondary to the problem of getting out of bed in the first place.

      4. Peppermint oil. I keep a glass of water by my bed with peppermint oil in it and I drink it when my alarm goes off. I also have a little spray bottle with some water and peppermint oil in it and I spritz it all over the place when I wake up. Or if I’m desperate I just sniff the bottle or rub it on my temples and the back of my neck. It’s a natural alertness aid. Again if you just hit “off” on the alarm and roll over this isn’t a solution but it’s something your kid can do right in bed to help wake up.

And don’t leave the alarm near the bed. It needs to be far away so you can’t snooze it. Or get an alarm that’s independent and set it across the room so you’ve GOT to get up. But if you work through the sleep cycles, 10-2 sleep, bright light, and dehydration then the alarm should actually start becoming redundant

      Good luck

  • Kate says:

I noticed you recommend the cocoa butter wafers on your kit page. Do still put them in the food processor to grind it up or do you just use the wafers in your coffee? If wafers, how many per cup? Thanks so much for everything. You are a gift to the world!

  • ROBINLYNN HILDEBRAND says:

Has anyone tried this poured over ice or as a blended for a hot afternoon?

    • ROBINLYNN HILDEBRAND says:

Also, I wondered about mixing in some protein powder to up my protein?

      • Lee Pierce says:

Hey robinlynn, see the comment about 3 people up about the fats clogging if you Just pour hot bulletproof coffee over ice…you need workarounds. I have tried different protein powders and for me they ruin the viscosity of the drink…I don’t want it to be a smoothie…it’s coffee! But what I do use is hydrolized collagen and 1-2 tbsp works great and it’s good for your skin. They sell designer stuff now called vital collagen but it’s expensive I just buy the old school canister from Great Lakes on amazon

        • Jen says:

I bought some collagen to try in my morning tea. However, I believe it breaks my fast, and have noticed I get hungry sooner. Any ideas on where & when else in the day I could use the collagen instead?

      • Barb says:

I use collagen powder in mine too. Delicious!?

  • Kristin says:

So I normally just add a dash of coffee to my cream and splenda, so I wasn’t sure how I would like this, but I bit the bullet and I have to say it is DELICIOUS! I used a French vanilla coffee to mimic my creamer and it worked perfectly! Thanks Corrine!

  • Heather says:

I have 2 brands of cacao butter Navitas and Big Tree Farms, do you think they are just as good to use since I already have them?

  • Dianette Garcia says:

I want to try the coffee recipe. Where do I get these ingredients again? Also. I only drink one cup of coffee a day. I have some menopausal imsomnia going on. I have coconut milk, coconut oil and Palm Candy. (Palmyran juice) sweetener. Can I use that? Or sugar free creamer?
    Thanks for your constant help

  • Alison says:

The video link doesn’t seem to work. Really wanted to watch your process. And, is there any reason NOT to use organic grass fed butter instead of cacao butter?

  • Yvette says:

I drink about 2-3 cups of the butter coffee a day. Do you put 1 TB in each cup or do you make a pot of coffee put 1 TB in that & split the coffee up?

  • Stephanie Tomasko says:

What is MCT? Which brand of Natural Calm do you use, Corinne?

  • Shawna Salkil says:

I use a powdered MCT oil and I like it. I might try the brain octane when I run out of this. Just got my cocao butter today, and it is really tasty in my coffee! I drank it this afternoon, but I am looking forward to trying it instead of breakfast tomorrow. Trying to up my healthy fats and can use all of the help I can get with focus since I have menopause brain half the time! Appreciate the recipe and for all you share to help those of us who aren’t even in the tribe. Thank you!!!

  • T Moll says:

Is it me or does the MCT have a funky taste to it? Or could it be the brand I bought? Is this an acquired taste?

  • Janet Hamilton says:

Does this stuff change the taste of regular coffee or it’s just the heath value in it? confused. I drink plain o’l coffee with creamer. I think my brain could use a boost though lol

  • Tricia says:

What brand coffee do you use?

  • Bridgett says:

Is this drink to get your body started and have more energy?

  • Gina says:

Interesting to try it. Wonder.. MCT and Brain Octane both together in coffee? Which can I find MCT oil to buy because too many MCT oil

  • Colleen Biller says:

What is the difference between MCT oil and coconut oil because I put that in my morning coffee already? Thank you! You have inspired me!

  • Elena Kutzli says:

Is this also good for men to drink?? I’m going to try it. Not a coffee drinker. Thanks!

  • Missy says:

Would there be anything negative with having MCT, CB and whipping cream? I like the cocoa flavor but I also like my coffee creamy.

  • cynthia campos says:

any suggestions on if to use ghee or just your cocoa??

  • Kathryn says:

I’m sure you’ve addressed this somewhere, but do you mix it all up while the coffee is hot?

  • Becky says:

Hello! I am excited to try this coffee recipe. I ordered the Cocoa Butter. I noticed that on this page it says to add 1 tsp of MCT or Brain Octane and on another/ and in the video it doesn’t say to add it. Help!?

  • Nancy Anna Roberts says:

Interested in your coffee recipe! What would be the difference between using the MCT Oil or Brain Octane?
