So many of my clients find themselves confused, overwhelmed, or just plain stalled in their weight loss efforts once the "newness" of the program wears off.
When we see this start to happen, we invoke the 24 hour rule.
Overwhelm and confusion simply means you aren't doing ANYTHING to move forward. You are thinking about things but no actions are happening.
And when we are overwhelmed, especially, it usually comes from a lie we tell ourselves like I am so busy or there's just too much to do.
Hey. Think about it. When you are overwhelmed are you getting anything done or just spinning out thinking about things you need to do?
Here's the thing. When you feel confused or overwhelmed it's ONLY because you keep telling yourself some crappy story about your life. Tell yourself something different. Overwhelm and confusion have to take a raincheck when you change the story to something manageable.
So, I teach my clients the 24 hour rule when they are first starting out or been off the rails a bit. I tell them, "All I want you to think about is doing something small to move forward." This keeps them from thinking of EVERYTHING that needs to be done.
When you are able to do the next thing the confusion is gone. Think about it. You did something so you aren't lost.
And overwhelm goes away, too. Again, you did something so you are free now to feel forward motion.
When it comes to losing weight, the 24 hour rule pulls you right out of overwhelm and right into finding your next step.
And while you are taking small steps forward I can THEN help my clients untangle what got them there in the first place so they don't have to go BACK!
I outline the 24 hour rule process in the podcast. Essentially you are going to plan what you will eat the next 24 hours. That's it. No food prepping, weekly plan, and other things. You focus on what is right in front of you.
It will take your from confused to clarity and overwhelmed to manageable.
For Android users I recommend Castbox.
